2010 JUNIOR HIGH LEAGUE COMPETITION
DATE – Round 1 of the
tournament will be played on Thursday, January 14, Round 2 on Thursday,
January 21, Round 3 on Thursday, January 28, Round 4 on Thursday, February
4, Round 5 on Thursday, February 11, Round 6 on Thursday, February 18.
If more than one round is cancelled because of inclement weather or
for any other reason, then the final round will be played on Thursday,
February 25.
PLACE – The tournament
will be played at McKinley High School, 2156 Russell, Saint Louis, Missouri,
63104.
REGISTRATION – Registration
is required for each round. Registration will be from 3:45 p.m.
to 4:30 p.m. Players or teams registering after 4:30 will be subject
to a $5.00 late fee.
ELIGIBILITY – All students
in kindergarten through grade nine are eligible. Schools may not
enter teams in sections that include grades higher than the highest
grade in the school that the team represents.
NINTH GRADE AND UNDER DIVISION
FORMAT – Students in kindergarten through grade nine are eligible.
Each school may enter any number of four player teams. Teams will
be paired with teams from other divisions. Each player will play
two games against one opponent. The team score is the sum of the
player scores. The time control is game in thirty minutes.
Awards will depend on the number of schools entered.
EIGHTH GRADE AND UNDER
DIVISION FORMAT – Students in kindergarten through grade eight are
eligible. Each school may enter any number of four player teams.

will play two games against one opponent. The team score is the
sum of the player scores. The time control is game in thirty minutes.

INDIVIDUAL SECTION FORMAT
– Students in kindergarten through grade nine are eligible.
Each school may enter any number of players. Each round each player
will play two games against one opponent. The time control is
game in thirty minutes. A trophy will be awarded to each grade
champion.
AWARDS PRESENTATIONS –
The awards presentation will be scheduled early in May.
ENTRY FEE – The entry
fee is $100.00 per school, or $10.00 per player.
EQUIPMENT – Players are
responsible for providing sets, boards, clocks and either pen or pencil
for writing game notation. Limited numbers of sets, boards and
clocks will be available for those without necessary equipment.
Equipment may be on sale during the tournament.
SPONSORS – Each school
must have either a sponsor or parent present. There will be a
sponsors and parents meeting during round one.
