Gateway Chess 2025-6 Schedule

The schedule for the Gateway Chess League is now posted.


Starting the year off on Saturday, October 11th is the Ed Baur Open, the first of eight Saturday USCF-rated tournaments that comprise the Gateway Grand Prix. Last season, over 500 students from over 80 schools across the St. Louis region participated.


Registration for the Gateway Chess High School League has begun, and continues until October 25th. This is a 5-vs-5 high school team competition with the matches being played on Wednesdays after school. Last year's competition featured twenty-four teams from twenty high schools.


The Gateway Chess Junior League is a competition for K-9 players held for five Thursdays in January-February at Wydown Middle School. Players will play two 30-minute games per week.


On March 7th, 2026, the Gateway Chess League and the Missouri Chess Association will hold the Missouri State Scholastic Chess Championships. More info can be found on the Events Page.


The final event for the season is the Awards Banquet, being held April 8th, 2026 at Royale Orleans.
