The Gateway Action Tournament Registration is Open
Online Registration for the Gateway Action Tournament is now open. When: February 21st Where: Crossroads College Prep Cost: $15 if registered online, $20 on-site This tournament is fast-paced (six rounds, 25-minute plus 5-second delay time control) where all players compete in a single combined section. On February 7th, Gateway Chess organized the 2026 Gatewway Board Tournament , hosted by Normansy High School. In the High School Section Section, Jackson HS took 1st place with a score of 13.0 out of 16 possible. In the younger team divisions, Wydown MS won the 8th and Under Division, Maplewood-Richmond Hts. On January 31st, Gateway Chess organized the 2026 Chris Bollinger Memorial , hosted by Clayton HS. In the High School Section Section, Vianney HS took 1st place with a score of 9.0, easily outdistancing 2ns place Crossroads. Herrin (IL) HS and Belleville East HS tie for 1st Place in the 2026 Gateway Team Tournament
Yesterday, Gateway Chess organized the 2026 Gateway Team Tournament , hosted by Belleville West HS, with 160 players participating. In the Team Section, Herrin HS and the B team from Belleville East HS tied with a perfect 4.0 points, with Herrin winning the tiebreaker to take home the first place trophy. Registration for the Junior League is Open
Registration is now open for the Gateway Junior Chess League , which will be held at Wydown Middle School starting this Thursday, January 15th, and continuing January 29th, February 5, 12, and 19th, with a makeup date of February 26th. Note, we are skipping January 22nd. There is a one-time entry fee of $15 for all five weeks of the tournament. Online registration will only be open for one week. Missouri State Championships
The tournament flier for the Missouri State Championship has been posted. The tournament is being held on March 7th, 2006. This is earlier in the year than it has been held the past few years. The official host is the Missouri Chess Association, with the assistance of the Gateway Chess League. This tournament is only for scholastic players who attend a Missouri school, or scholastic Missouri players who are home-schooled. Registration will open soon after the Action Tourname

Belleville East HS Wins the 2025 Gateway Blitz Tournament
Yesterday, Gateway Chess organized the 2025 Gateway Blitx Tournament , hosted by St. John Vianney HS, with 138 players participating. Belleville East HS posted their fourth straight victory with 21 points out of a possible 30. CBC HS finished second with 19 points. Belleville East HS posted their third straight victory with 14.5 points out of a possible 16. Yesterday, Gateway Chess organized the Gateway Grade Tournament , hosted by De Smet High School. Posting their second straight victory, Belleville East HS easily outdistanced the field, scoring 13.5 points out of a possible 16.
