Belleville East HS Wins the 2025 Gateway Blitz Tournament

Yesterday, Gateway Chess organized the 2025 Gateway Blitx Tournament, hosted by St. John Vianney HS, with 138 players participating.


Belleville East HS posted their fourth straight victory with 21 points out of a possible 30. CBC HS finished second with 19 points.


In the younger divisions, Wydown MS won the Middle School division, and Old Bonhomme ES won the Elementary School division/.


For the individual awards, in the High School division we had a four-way tie for first place all scoring 8.0/10, with Oliver Gorislavsky from Parkway West HS snagging the 1st place trophy on the 2nd tiebreaker. In the Middle School section, Aryan Bezawada from Rockwood Valley MS finished 1st and posted the only unblemished 10.0/10 result for the tournament. The Elementary School division winner Linci Hong from Old Bonhomme ES was nearly perfect with 9.5/10.
